Brief Description
MS07-058 is not categorized as virus, worm, Trojan or backdoor. It is an important vulnerability in RPC on Windows Vista/2003/XP/2000 computers, which allows to launch Denial of Service attacks.
The RPC Authentication vulnerability allows hackers to cause the computer to stop responding and automatically restart.
This vulnerability is exploited by creating a special RPC message and sending it to a vulnerable computer over an affected TCP/UDP port. Attacks can be launched across the Internet, but a firewall could be used in order to prevent those attacks.
