Brief Description
MS07-059 is not categorized as virus, worm, Trojan or backdoor. It is an important vulnerability in several versions of Windows SharePoint Services, which allows local privilege escalation in the vulnerable computer. The affected versions are Office Sharepoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on Windows 2003 computers.
Windows SharePoint Services provide a common framework for document management and for storing all type of documents.
If exploited successfully, MS07-059 allows to gain unauthorized privileges within the SharePoint site. This would allow a hacker to gain the same user rights on the SharePoint as the logged-on user.
This vulnerability is exploited by creating a malicious website and enticing users into accessing it. The link to the malicious website can be distributed via email.
